CM Punjab Launches Solar Project for Agricultural Tube Wells

CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the advance agricultural tube well solarization project for farmers, a major step towards sustainable and cost effective farming in the province Punjab of Pakistan.

8,000 Tube Wells to Go Solar in First Phase

In the first phase of the scheme 8,000 agricultural tube wells across Punjab will be converted to solar panel power according Express News Pakistan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that farmers would be selected for the program through a fair lottery system with honestly. The first lucky farmer chosen was Muhammad Nawaz Khan from Attock Punjab Pakistan. She also reviewed the list of successful applicants from Narowal district.

Big Saving Farmers

This project is set to provide major financial relief farmers. By switching to solar powered tube wells a farmer can save up to Rs 10,000 per day translating to over Rs 3.25 Lakh per month.

Massive Response From Farmers

The solarisation project has attracted over 530,000 applications with 385,000 farmers qualifying for the lottery system. The government aims to convert around 87% of diesel and electricity powered tube wells to solar energy significantly cutting down reliance on expensive and non renewable energy sources.

Project Completion Target: June

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a target to complete the first phase by June. She expressed confidence that this initiative will reduce agricultural production costs and bring a revolution in Punjab’s farming sector.
